Wild elopement in Val d’Orcia
Sofia’s beautiful pictures of this summer shooting have longed for this moment many months!
It took a while to sit down, look at these photos and overcome the pain I felt in July 2020, when we should have been in the full swing of the wedding season, instead we were closed…
It has been an educational and formative experience, enriched by many interesting encounters with talented professionals.
For the shooting we picked an iconic July day, when the colors of Valdorcia inexorably turn to gold and brown, coming into the deep of the dry season, the best season to celebrate with the backdrop of a line of cypresses, or under a starry sky, far away from the madding crowd...
A table for two
A romantic table setting in the courtyard for an intimate dinner and a tiny cake to cuddle and celebrate!
A minimal wedding arch and a delicate pastel bouquet with wildflowers
The poetry of those wild carrot stems, standing out from the arch arrangements should already tell you all about my devotion to wildflowers, often protagonists of my works.
We wanted a delicate pastel color palette and a simple, light decoration to accompany the airy, aflutter gown. The garden provided cosmos, lilac and light blue ageratum, the first dahlias of the season (the anemone flower one is called “Take off”, one of my very favourite), pink and white zinnias and lots of ammi majus, visnaga and nigella pods! But the real star of the decoration was the zesty, lime green of the bells of Ireland, a recent addition to the garden and a plant I’ll never do without!
Styled shooting, real feelings
The downhearted and raw nature of Il Rigo, of Valdorcia itself, shines through these photos. They captured the very essence of a human union, as such, in the silence of the hills, in the summer breeze that often visits our font loan.
