Fields of gold - a summer wedding in Pienza
If winter weather makes you feel like travelling south, if instead of firewood crackling in the chimney and Christmast carols you would rather hear songs of cicadas and the evening breeze caressing ripe wheat in the fields, that is the post you need to read!
Be ready to plunge into a summer day, surrounded by the golden light of the Tuscan sun and among the white roads of Val d’Orcia, up to the hilltop of Pienza, for an intimate wedding that was all about enjoying togetherness after months of lockdown!
I’m sure you’ll love each moment, captured by Francesca and Alessandro aka Due su due wedding, that with their sensitive eyes were able to value not only the magnificent landscape, but also the silent nature that frames each moment of our life at Il Rigo!
The newlyweds asked me not to be shown in this post but are glad to share the beautiful photos of their magical day to inspire you!
An iconic summer day
Civil wedding in Pienza and symbolic ceremony under the pines
The historic centre of Pienza, a Renaissance masterpiece, it’s a stop not to be missed during any trip to Val d’Orcia, and its winding paths and stunning walks along the walls are a perfect frame for a wedding photo session, after the ceremony.
After a morning ceremony we welcomed the wedding party with a second time of sharing, an informal setting under the pines, with pillows and rugs for the guests to sit! The ceremony was framed by a natural decoration that matched the context, with joyful sunflowers, cardoons and architectural allium heads.
Aperitivo and sunset dinner
If it’s the first time you arrive on our blog, I’m glad to introduce you to our woking ethic: we aim to lighten the approach to wedding planning, focusing on things that should really matter in a celebration, such as love, friendship and respect, for people that work to make this special days possible, and to nature, whose beauty never stops to astonish us!
That’s why we prefer direct contacts with our guests, we work hard to create a net of suppliers that know Il Rigo, that’s why we select seasonal recipes that include local ingredients, that’s why we decorate these events with flowers and materials grown and foraged in our land! We believe strongly in this virtuous circle!
If you seek for natural beauty you will definitely find it on our table, where dry grasses and wildflowers decorate our dinners, mingling with the backdrop of the iconic countryside around Il Rigo!
I hope you enjoyed this post and hope to have inspired you to go for a relaxed, down to earth, and meaningful party in this paradise we call home, Val d’Orcia!
