Maria and Robert: a cozy and intimate wedding in September
It was just a couple of days ago that I wrote you my greetings for the New Year, but I feel that sharing today’s blog post is my best wish for the next season!
2020 was such a strange year, a year where people, despite the circumstances, decided not to give up their plans to celebrate love among their dear ones!
Rethinking the idea we have of a traditional wedding celebration is something that we have to face: huge parties with hundreds of people are probably going to be unlikely for some years to come. We have the chance to examine our priorities, a unique opportunity to move away from what is superfluous and to step towards our deepest needs.
I strongly believe that sharing the milestones of our life with our family and our close friends is a need in life. I always felt this way, but this year more than ever, as I rarely missed to hug my friends, to shake their hands, to sing together as I did in the last couple of winter months!
My heart is full of tenderness and joy looking back at this intimate wedding and the warmth of these late summer afternoons surrounds me.
Sheltered in our solitary farmhouse somewhere in Tuscany, Maria and Robert celebrated their union with a personal, symbolic ceremony on the loan and waited until nightfall to dine with their guests under a vault of stars.
Come with me while I show you the moments of the day, captured by Jeannine Alfes.
In a year like the one that just ended, we were all looking for peace and tranquillity, away from crowds and messy cities, but I noticed that people were also looking for beauty and for that lost bond with Nature.
We at Il Rigo have no merits for the beauty of Val d’Orcia, but we dedicate our life to protect and keep alive this treasure for all the visitors to enjoy!
It’s not surprising that Maria and Robert fell in love with this landscape and made it the backdrop of their day!
Coziness while getting ready
Cozy, informal, downhearted and I would add “fresh” are the best quality for an outfit in a “Il Rigo home-made wedding”!
The romantic and natural look of Maria was completed with a bouquet of blush flowers from our garden (I also have a video of the making of): white dahlias, pink cosmos, peach zinnias, lilac ageratum and olive leaves. A delicate bunch that I found perfectly in accord with the grace of the bride!
A symbolic ceremony on the loan
The symbolic ceremony that took place on the loan, was celebrated by their friends and was accompanied by the guitar and the violin of Marco and Letizia of the Flame Parade, colleagues and dear friends, that with their music raised our spirit and contributed to make every moment unforgettable!
Golden hour in Val d'Orcia
A short photo shoot around Il Rigo and at the neighbour Chapel of Vitaleta before dinner begins!
A dreamy tablescape with pink and blush flowers
For the table decoration we went for a simple and clean setting, with bunches of pink bushy flowers from the garden, recycled-paper menus and cards with an olive oil bottle as favour.
The cake, a carrot naked cake with mascarpone frosting and edible flowers was the sweet ending of this intimate and collected party!
A walk in the garden with Jeannine
The morning after, Jeannine followed me in a short tour of our vegetable and flower garden, to see where the magic of Il Rigo begins! For me it is there, amidst the dahlias, the marigolds and the plants of zucchini covered with mornig dew drops!
I hope you enjoyed this post and hope to have inspired you to go for a relaxed, down to earth, and meaningful party in this paradise we call home, Val d’Orcia!
