Valentina&Ruben - a Tuscan dream
I hope you will enjoy this post about Valentina and Ruben’s romantic wedding, their charming portraits captured in the golden light of sunset in Il Rigo's backyard.
This young couple completely fell in love with the rolling hills of Val d'Orcia and chose to celebrate the ceremony on our terrace, facing the town of Pienza. At the time, I remember the garden had some lovely asters blooming, which I combined with grey sage leaves, purple cosmos and zinnias for the bouquet.
The bridesmaids held their own bunches as well, with an additional touch of yellow zinnias.
There couldn’t have been better weather for this ceremony en-plain-air.
The brick fence of the terrace perfectly frames the landscape.I think there is nothing like a glorious table in the sunlight to capture the essence of a Tuscan late summer wedding!
It’s all about enjoying the last long days of the year, storing some warmth for the winter and carrying home fond memories of happy hours spent together!
Brown recycled paper menus printed at home, wooden pegs with wheat stems for name tags, recycled jars and brown bottles to serve as vases to display our organic flowers.
After dinner, we served the wedding cake in the courtyard: a semi-freddo cake with hazelnuts and red fruits decorated with edible marigolds, cosmos and blue cornflowers.
Every part of our decorations demonstrates sustainability -- even the garnishes on the cake!
That’s our way of sharing our ethical beliefs and our love for our countryside!
