Hanna & Jochem: relaxed, cozy and genuine July wedding

I’m immensely enjoying dedicating some time to looking back at last summer’s weddings, reading the feedback of our couples, selecting the pictures, even when I’m forced to remember how severe the drought has been!

I’m glad Il Rigo is the backdrop of so many happy moments and the frame of family gatherings and celebrations! It suits this place’s true soul and purpose: being a home!

Follow me while I recall the highlights of Hanna and Jochem’s special day, last July!

We immediately knew that this would be the place for us and did not spend a lot of time looking further. Il Rigo is authentic, one with the surrounding landscape and has a charming and authentic family story.

Why Italy? Why not!

When I asked the bride and groom why they decided to get married in Tuscany, and in Italy, that was their genuine answer: why not!
I leave you here, so you can hear the rest directly from Hanna’s words.

We fell in love with Tuscany a few years ago on summer holidays and thought it would be the perfect place for our wedding celebration. As we are an international pair ( I am American, and Jochem is Dutch, and we both live in Sweden) we knew whatever location we would pick required traveling for the majority of guests.
In addition we knew that Italy could provide us with stable weather (we lucked out with sunshine on our big day 😊 ) and delicious cuisine.

I designed my wedding dress together with a local seamstress in Stockholm, Sweden (Zamina Scillasdotter).
I didn't try on any other wedding dresses. I knew I
wanted something simple, but with a unique touch.
Il Rigo weddings are famous for the beautiful flower arrangements and we thought it would be fun to add embroidered flowers on the bodice of the wedding dress. In addition, Luisa made a beautiful flower crown that elevated the whole look!
I felt beautiful all day in my dress, and encourage brides to
pick something that feels authentic to them.

A memorable dinner

If we were to pick one special moment, we would say the wedding dinner was all that we envisioned and more.

There were so many small details that blew us away.
For example, waking up on our wedding day and seeing friends and family relaxing outside with a cappuccino during breakfast and realizing we are in Italy altogether.

Or the wedding ceremony under the pines, with the most beautiful backdrop imaginable.
But if we were to pick one special moment, we would say the wedding dinner was all that we envisioned and more.

As the sun set, it was so nice to see all our friends and family relaxed around the dinner tables, beautiful string lights above us and the sweetest flower arrangements. This very setting is what we imagined when we first read Il Rigo's wedding blog and decided we wanted to get married here.
And we can tell you that experiencing it in real life on our wedding day, surrounded by loved ones was truly a memorable experience.
