Mirah and Baptiste, an heartwarming June wedding

I’m so glad to share another beautiful wedding photo reportage, accompanied by the bride&groom's words and feedback. Mirah and Baptiste has visited Il Rigo before their wedding and I believe perfectly cached its spirit and authenticity!

“What exactly did we like about it? The old farmhouse and the colorful wild garden were cared for with so much love, the animals lazed happily in the sun, a delicious smell came from the kitchen, a lively wind blew over the fields, the place felt full of life and yet also radiated peace. The place whispered its own story and hat absolutely nothing of a contrived wedding venue that felt like a stage.”

I’m sure you’ll find plenty of inspiration and beauty to gaze upon!

Italy was our first vacation destination together. As students we went on an Interrail trip and visited several Italian cities by train. Since then, we have traveled back to Italy several times as we love the food, the wine, the melody of the language and the culture here.

The idea of a wedding in Tuscany came up very spontaneously and we weren’t really serious about it when we visited two possible locations during our summer vacation, which we spent in Italy again. We paid a visit to Il Rigo and immediately loved the place.

Il Rigo felt honest, homely, and welcoming. We also liked the sustainability aspect, the use of local and seasonal products and the good vegetarian options. Oh yes, and Luisa’s love of flowers and floristic talent also helped with the decision. We are very happy to have chosen Il Rigo!

Getting ready

The search for the wedding dress turned out to be completely different from what romantic movies show you.  On that set day, I was neither fit nor in the mood to choose a dress. The dress that fitted me best and was also comfortable didn't actually match my initial expectations at all. However, I decided to go for it because my mother and sister had tears of joy when I wore it - I thought to myself, then it should probably be this dress. And I didn't really have the time or inclination to look any further.

But as the wedding approached, I got more and more excited about wearing the dress. When we finally arrived at Il Rigo, I couldn't have imagined a dress more fitting than mine. The delicate floral lace blended beautifully with the blossoming springtime atmosphere. This may sound a bit cheesy, but it was almost as if I hadn’t chosen the dress, but the dress had chosen me, because it already knew how wonderfully it would fit into a Tuscan wedding.

First look

Vows uner the pines

There are a lot of unforgettable moments of our wedding days, and each of these moments had his own magic. However, if we had to choose one as our favorite, it would have been the outdoor ceremony under the pines.  We were a little worried beforehand because we didn't have a professional wedding celebrant and didn't know whether a ceremony organized by our families could be " festive" to the same extent.  But our families surprised us with the most wonderful speeches and rituals.

Surrounded by beautiful floral arrangements (We could hardly take our eyes off them, they were so gorgeous!) and against an incredible Tuscan backdrop, we had a very emotional and heartwarming ceremony that we couldn’t have imagined being more beautiful.

Francesca and Alessandro from Duesudue accompanied us on our wedding day and captured the most beautiful moments for us through their lenses. It felt like having two extra friends at our party. Although they were mainly in the background, we felt a great sympathy and really appreciated their honest, warm and natural manner! The pictures we received later were just wonderful and authentic. They captured the aesthetic details, happy hugs, hearty laughter, tears of joy and moments full of love.  The pictures took us back to that magical day in a second. We are very happy and satisfied to have such beautiful souvenirs thanks to Francesca and Alessandro.

Words of wisdom

If we can give an advice to couples planning to have a wedding, we would recommend to enjoy the whole planning process and try to stay relaxed. Planning a wedding and all the infinite possibilities can be overwhelming and it can be easy to lose sight of the essence of this occation.

That’s why we recommend: Trust that the beauty of the day does not depend on things like the color of the decorations, the weather, the menu or your dress- but only on you, your happiness and that of your guests. And trust that Il Rigo has an inherent beauty that goes far beyond the decorations or floral arrangements. And this beauty is difficult to put into words.
