WE'RE HIRING A COOK FOR SEASON 2024

I'm going to use this profile for something slightly unusual!

We're hiring and we're looking for a cook!

My dream is to find someone with enough experience in the gastronomy business, to start feeling that food should be something else... than a mere business!

Il Rigo’s kitchen is an expression of my idea of how the world should be: sustainable, meaningful, authentic, down to earth and full of stories to tell!
At Il Rigo we prepare a 4-courses menu of traditional Tuscan recipes, sometimes contaminated by dishes that inspired me during travels, exchanges with friends and colleagues, by cook books and by pinterest...

However there are two unavoidable common denominators: local and seasonal ingredients.
In the past years we've invested lots of energy creating our vegetable garden (the Val d'Orcia is not really suitable for vegetable production) and my main focus is to enhance all the goodness coming from there and from our farm!

I'd be delighted to hire a foreigner with experience abroad, that could bring some fresh air in our countryside, while learning about our traditions and sustainable ethos!
Even though we're not providing lodging, we would be at complete disposal to support the research of a suitable accommodation for the working months (March/November)

Job description

Our restaurant is open for dinner, 7 days a week from March until November.
Sometimes we’re open at lunch and we host intimate weddings from June until the beginning of September.

We have 35 seats but we accept events up to 50 guests.

Our team is comprised of me, Luisa, chef and owner that manage menus and ingredients supply, sous chef for preparation of pasta and desserts, and dish washer.

YOUR TASKS WILL BE:

• Preparation of half of the menu (starters and meat) following the recipes and proposing new ones
• Evening service from 19.30 to 21, 6 days a week
• Full time service aperitif-dinner during summer events 4-5 days a week
• Grant freshness and quality of the recipes
• Assist chef owner with food supply
• Supervise others during service time

REQUIREMENTS:

• Codice fiscale (it’s not difficult to get one, if you’re Eu citizen)
• Previous experience in restaurants/hotels (minimum 3 years)
• Knowledge of cooking techniques
• Organizational skills and team spirit
• Creativity and passion for food!

YOUS SHOULD ALSO KNOW:
• Most of our team members can speak English so Italian is not required. I’m confident that with a little time communication will not be an issue!
• To live in our area it’s necessary to drive a vehicle so a driving license and (preferably) an car, are required to accept this job
• We do not offer lodging (we could for the very beginning of the collaboration), however we’re at complete disposal to assist during the research of a suitable accommodation!
